Bomb Threat at South Delhi School Deemed a Hoax After Thorough Search

A private school in Greater Kailash, South Delhi, received a bomb threat via email late Thursday night. The alarming email, received around midnight, claimed that a bomb had been planted on the premises of Summer Fields School. In adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for emergencies, the school management promptly evacuated the students and informed the authorities.

Law enforcement agencies, including a bomb detection team and a dog squad, were dispatched to the school. They conducted a thorough search of the premises, but nothing suspicious was found. The threat was later declared a hoax after a comprehensive investigation.

Shalini Agarwal, the Principal of Summer Fields School, expressed gratitude to the police for their immediate support. She emphasized that there was no panic among parents due to the swift response and coordination.

In May, the Union home ministry stressed the need for detailed protocols and SOPs to handle such situations after several schools in Delhi-NCR received similar hoax bomb threats via email. Enhancing security measures, including installing CCTV cameras and monitoring emails, remains crucial to prevent unnecessary panic caused by misinformation.
